名探偵コナン ・ Officially certified on the Anime Tourism 88 (2018–2025)

📍 4 verified spots 🚄 Overnight recommended 🏅 88-Selection No.146 (2018–2025)

Detective Conan creator Gosho Aoyama comes from Hokuei, Tottori, and the town has fully committed to branding itself as “the town where you can meet Conan,” run by its own tourism association — one of Japan’s most thorough single-work official pilgrimages. From JR Yura Station to the Aoyama Gosho Hometown Museum runs 1.4 km of “Conan Street,” with bronze and colour statues at 19 spots, 30 stone monuments, Conan manhole covers and themed streetlamps. My advice: make Yura Station your start and simply walk Conan Street — that single line covers the main sights. Note that the museum is relocating: the current building at the far end of the street closes on 11 January 2027, and the new museum opens in spring 2027 beside Beika Shopping Street, midway along the route.

コナンの家 米花商店街北榮町

Per the Hokuei Tourism Association’s official page, this is the second fan must-see facility along Conan Street, alongside the Hometown Museum. It sits on the same 1.4 km Conan Street, so you pass it naturally on the walk without any detour. The new museum is being built right next to it for spring 2027, and its car park has been closed for the works since 18 May 2026.

Per the Hokuei Tourism Association’s official page, the station itself is themed around Conan and houses the official tourist information counter. Yura Station is about 10 minutes from JR Kurayoshi and roughly an hour from JR Yonago, and it is the start of the pilgrimage route — grab your information here before setting off.

Getting there and routing the pilgrimage

There is no direct shinkansen from Tokyo to Tottori. Common routes: fly Haneda–Tottori or Haneda–Yonago (each about 1 hour 20 minutes); or take the shinkansen to Okayama or Shin-Osaka and change to the limited express “Super Hakuto,” with Osaka–Kurayoshi running about 3 hours 10 minutes.

Once in the Tottori area, a JR San-in Main Line local from Kurayoshi to Yura Station takes about 10 minutes; from Yonago it is around an hour. Yura Station is the head of Conan Street, and the 1.4 km walk to the current Aoyama Gosho Hometown Museum covers the main sights in one line; that building closes on 11 January 2027, and the new museum opens in spring 2027 beside Beika Shopping Street, midway along the walk. If you also want the Tottori Sand Dunes, pair Hokuei and the dunes across two days of the same San-in trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1:How long does it take to walk Conan Street?
From JR Yura Station to the Aoyama Gosho Hometown Museum is about 1.4 km, roughly a 20-minute walk. With statues at 19 spots, 30 stone monuments and assorted Conan installations along the way, a relaxed pace covers the main sights.
Q2:What is the most convenient way from Tokyo to Hokuei?
There is no direct shinkansen. Most people fly Haneda–Tottori or Haneda–Yonago (about 1 hour 20 minutes each), then take the San-in Main Line to Yura Station — about 10 minutes from Kurayoshi, roughly an hour from Yonago.
Q3:Can you combine Hokuei with the Tottori Sand Dunes?
Yes, though they are not near the same station, so plan them across two days of one San-in trip rather than cramming into a single day. Conan Street takes about half a day; give the dunes their own half-day to full day.
