A little light.
A lovely Tokyo Christmas.
Warm your paws around a cup of cocoa and follow the lights. Bro-neko has gathered 27 seasonal events, plus four easy routes, so you can choose one neighbourhood and enjoy the evening at your own pace.

Three things to know before choosing
One area, different opening dates
Lights and markets may open separately. In Ueno, Hakamagoshi Square starts Nov 6 and Shinobazu Pond starts Nov 18. Omotesando dates are currently planned.
Give side trips their own time
Disney and Makuhari are in Chiba, Yokohama is in Kanagawa, and Karuizawa is in Nagano. The list labels these Beyond Tokyo. Karuizawa needs separate transport and overnight planning.
Check what admission includes
Street lights, ticketed night displays, markets and observation decks are separate experiences. A date range does not guarantee daily opening; check attraction and racecourse closure calendars.
27 Christmas and winter events for 2026

A few things for your coat pocket
- Wear layers and bring gloves and a charged power bank. Standing still for photographs can feel colder than walking.
- Choose one main evening area and include an indoor meal, restrooms and a break.
- Follow photography rules and keep roads, entrances and pedestrian routes clear.
- Check official opening and weather notices on the day. Complete any required ticket purchase, lottery or reservation first.
A few answers before you go
Is early November too soon?
No. Skytree and Keyakizaka begin Nov 5, and Ueno's first square begins Nov 6. Other markets open later, so match your choices to your dates.
Is everything free?
No. Separate street displays from ticketed markets, attractions and night experiences. Observation decks, rides and food may cost extra. Use each entry's official link to check.
Can I combine Yokohama, Disney and Karuizawa with a central Tokyo evening?
Plan them separately. Disney generally deserves a full day; Yokohama works as a day trip. Karuizawa also needs intercity transport, local connections and a realistic late return or overnight stay.
