Follow Bro-neko through Singapore, with room for little discoveries.
The first airport journey is easier when you know three things: your terminal, the nearest useful station entrance to your accommodation, and your payment method. Prepare those before reaching a gate with luggage. This guide starts with an ordinary city stay; transit passengers, late-night arrivals and travellers with bulky bags may need a different option.
- Time to allow
- Set your own pace
- A good fit for
- Independent travellers who prefer a flexible pace
Separate Jewel from the flight journey
Jewel is landside, so it is not automatically accessible to a transit passenger remaining airside. Before planning the Rain Vortex, check whether you can enter Singapore and leave enough time for check-in, security and boarding afterwards. Verify the attraction and shop hours separately; a round-the-clock airport does not mean every feature operates all night.
Airport MRT: check the transfer, not just the destination
The airport MRT station connects directly with Terminals 2 and 3. A city journey usually involves Tanah Merah for the East West Line or Expo for the Downtown Line, depending on your accommodation and current service. Follow airport transfer signs from other terminals. Late at night, check the last complete connection, not merely whether the first airport train is still running.

Eligible contactless bank cards work on MRT and public buses. Tap in and out with the same physical card, or the same card on the same mobile device; switching between card and phone can split the journey. SimplyGo lists a S$0.60 daily administration fee for foreign-issued Mastercard and Visa use, with possible bank fees. Compare a stored-value card or tourist pass against your actual travel pattern.
A route for your travel notebook.
- Before departure
Check entry requirements → save hotel address and MRT entrance → choose payment
The SG Arrival Card and a visa are different; check your document requirements with ICA.
- After landing
Clear arrival formalities and collect bags → find terminal transport → choose the appropriate transfer
Take the chosen card out of your wallet to avoid reading multiple cards.
- On departure day
Confirm terminal and check-in → visit Jewel only with time to spare → proceed for departure
Jewel is optional; protect the airline’s check-in and boarding deadlines.

The practical details, paw-marked.
- Entry information
- ICA’s SG Arrival Card service is free; applicable travellers submit within three days including arrival day. Check passport and visa eligibility separately.
- Rail and late arrivals
- Recheck airport transport for engineering changes. If rail connections have ended, follow the official taxi or pre-booked vehicle pickup instructions.
- Mobile payment
- Keep enough battery and use one device throughout. Ask station staff for help rather than repeatedly changing cards during the journey.
Before you go
- With bulky bags, strollers or a group, compare the total fare and transfer effort, not only the per-person price.
- Tap out when alighting from a public bus so the journey is recorded correctly.
