A few things before you go

  • Choose tickets after identifying the operator, and plan the station, pier and final walk as one journey.
  • An editorial route: adapt it to arrival time and weather.

Follow Bro-neko through Thailand, with room for little discoveries.

You do not need to memorise every line colour before visiting Bangkok. Identify the operator serving your destination, then check the station, exit and payment rules. This is a recognition guide rather than a promise of universal card coverage; use the official links for current fares and accepted cards.

Look up BTS and MRT separately

BTS publishes its routes and Rabbit information; BEM publishes ticket and EMV information for the MRT lines it operates. The MRT label alone does not guarantee identical card acceptance on every line. Note your start and end stations, identify operator changes and allow time to walk and pass through gates.

Rabbit is not a universal Bangkok pass

Rabbit is a stored-value service accepted by participating transport and shops. Confirm supported services, identification and top-up rules with Rabbit, BTS and the relevant operator. BEM contactless bank-card travel has separate eligibility rules. On a short trip across several systems, compare single tickets with your actual journeys before buying multiple cards.

Express boats, tourist boats and ferries differ

Chao Phraya Express Boat runs river services with route-specific stops. Chao Phraya Tourist Boat has its own sightseeing routes and tickets, while cross-river ferries serve short crossings. Save the exact English or Thai destination-pier name and confirm direction and stops before boarding instead of relying only on appearance or a vague landmark name.

A route for your travel notebook.

  1. STEP 1 · Find a useful entry point

Destination address → useful station or pier → correct exit

Check the final walk for river or road barriers.

  2. STEP 2 · Check operator & payment

BTS, BEM or boat → official ticket information → accepted payment

Do not assume another line’s payment rules apply.

  3. STEP 3 · Save the return journey

Return pier or station → last useful departure → wet-weather alternative

Plan a comfortable final service, not necessarily the absolute last one.
